Baroque Trumpet Mutes
Our mutes are handmade in the U.S. and will work in all bells including Ehe, Haas, Hainlein, Nagel, and Birckholtz.
Prague Model – Based on examples in the Nardoni Museum in Prague. With a smaller bore, these mutes have more resistance. They are the softer of the two models, providing a more focused, oboe like sound. They will still produce a bright and buzzy sound when blown forte, but it will be somewhat softer and less aggressive than the Nuremberg Model. This model raises the pitch of the trumpet by 1/2 step.
Nuremberg Model – Based on examples in the Germanisches Nationalmuseum in Nuremberg. With a larger bore, these mutes play very open with a loud, bright, buzzy sound. These mutes can still provide a gentle muted sound when played softly, but they are easier of the two models to get a loud aggressive buzz in the sound. This model raises the pitch of the trumpet by 1/2 step.
